Certification FAQ's

We're here to help, get started with these answers.

How long do I have to complete the exam after completing the course or purchasing the exam?

A: Veeva training courses and exams expire one year from date of purchase. If the exam is not taken within the year, the exam will be removed from your dashboard. In rare cases where the exam is not available upon course completion, your one-year timeframe will begin on your exam enrollment date, which will coincide with the official release of the exam.

Is passing the Vault Platform Administrator exam a prerequisite for taking a Suite Associate exam?

A:  No, these are separate certification tracks. Earning a Vault Platform Administrator credential is not a prerequisite to taking any Associate exam. Candidates are welcome to earn both certifications, but they are separate.

Am I able to preview an exam before I attempt to take it?
A:  No, you are not able to preview an exam before beginning your exam attempt. Maintenance exams and newly developed exams are now delivered via Caveon’s Scorpion exam delivery tool. Your exam attempt begins as soon as you launch the exam and accept the agreement to begin the exam.

Are Veeva certification exams available in languages other than English?
A:  No. At this time, all Veeva certification exams are written in English only.

Are all Veeva certification exams timed and where can I find the specific duration?

A: Yes, all Veeva certification exams are now timed. The specific time for each exam will be indicated in its respective exam guide. Candidates should consult the guide and plan their time accordingly before beginning the exam.

Which item types can I expect to see on Veeva certification exams?

A: Veeva certification exams can include any of the following three item types:

  • Single-Select Multiple Choice: You must choose one correct answer from a list of options.
  • Multiple-Select Multiple Choice: You must choose two or more correct answers from a list of options.
  • Discrete Option Multiple Choice (DOMC): Each option is presented individually as a separate yes/no question. You evaluate one option at a time without seeing the others. A visual demonstration detailing the look and feel of these item types and how they work is available here.

How does navigation and scoring work for the different item types?

A: Navigation and scoring differ depending on the item type:

Single-Select and Multiple-Select Multiple Choice Items

  • Navigation: You may flag and/or revisit and change your responses to these items throughout the exam and before you submit the exam for grading.
  • Scoring: You must select the one correct answer (Single-Select) or the required number of correct answers (Multiple-Select), which will be specified, to receive credit; partial credit is not an option.

Discrete Option Multiple Choice (DOMC)

  • Navigation: Once you select “Yes” or “No” for an answer option, the response is locked and unchangeable– you cannot go back to change your response. The exam engine presents subsequent options randomly, and the number of options presented will vary and remain undisclosed for security reasons. The item shows a status of "This item is complete" when the necessary number of options has been presented.
  • Scoring: Credit is earned for a correct decision made (Responding “Yes” to a correct answer option or “No” to an incorrect answer option).

Will I receive an exact score after I finish my exam?

A: You will now receive an immediate Pass or Fail result upon completion. We have discontinued providing exact numerical scores (passing or earned) for all exams. This change allows us to better maintain the security and integrity of our certification process. Our passing scores are determined using an industry-recognized standard.

What kind of performance feedback will my score report include?

A: You will receive a breakdown of your performance by content domain (section) of the exam. This feedback shows how your performance compares to the required standard for each major domain (section).

How can I use the content domain feedback provided in my score report?

A: The section-level performance breakdown is designed to give you actionable insights. It helps you quickly identify specific areas where you met the required standard, as well as domains (sections) where more study is needed for any future attempts or for maintenance of your certification.

Can I get a breakdown of my performance on individual questions?

A: No. We do not report performance on individual questions, and no further detailed breakdown beyond the content domain analysis can be provided.

When are maintenance exams due?

A: Maintenance exams are due before your current credential expires. Once you complete your maintenance exam, your credential expiration date will be updated to one (1) year from the date you passed your maintenance exam.

Am I required to take a maintenance exam?

A: Yes, all credentials must be renewed before their expiration date. Failure to take or pass the maintenance exam will cause your credential to be marked as expired.

What do annual maintenance exams look like?

A:  Maintenance exams are open book and up to 20 questions in length. The number of questions and time allotted per exam may differ based on exam content. Specifics for each maintenance exam are outlined in its respective exam guide.

What if I fail my maintenance exam?

A: If you do not pass a maintenance exam, you may attempt to retake it based on the following guidelines.

  • First Retake: You must wait 24 hours after your initial failed attempt.
  • Second Retake and Beyond: After two unsuccessful attempts, you must contact Veeva directly to request permission for any additional attempts.

Will the renewal exam be available before my certification expires?

A: Yes, all renewal exams will be available a minimum of 45 days before any credential expires.

How do I find my credential expiration date?

A: Credential expiration dates are located on the digital credential in Accredible.

When is the certification maintenance fee due?

A: The certification maintenance fee is due no later than April 30, 2026. Details on payment status can be found in the Veeva Training Portal:

  • Top right corner > Profile > View Profile
  • User details
  • The status is listed under, “Certification Maintenance Fee Payment Status”

Why was the certification maintenance fee due date moved from June 30th to April 30th?

A: The due date was adjusted to April 30, 2026, to align with the new standardized annual Certification Maintenance Program cycle that begins on May 1, 2026. By moving the deadline, Veeva ensures that all participants have their fees processed and accounts activated in time to receive uninterrupted access to the Learning Library and required maintenance exams for the entire program year. This change also simplifies administrative management for both customers and partners by establishing a single, predictable timeframe for billing and program entry before the new cycle starts.

What happens if I don't pay my certification maintenance fee by the deadline?

A: After June 1, 2026, unpaid individuals will be deactivated from the CMP cohort. Reactivation is possible upon payment, but the CMP billing deadline (April 30, 2027) will not change for the following year.

If someone is certified for multiple products, do they need to pay a fee for each individual credential (i.e. Veeva Vault Platform Administrator and Veeva CRM Administrator)?

A: No, the $300 annual maintenance fee covers renewal for all the credentials a person may hold.

In addition to the annual certification maintenance fee, is there a separate cost for training?

A: Yes, the product training that is required or recommended to prepare for any Veeva Certification is fee-based for Veeva customers and partners. The cost can be found in our Veeva Training Guide.

What does my annual certification maintenance fee include?

A: The annual maintenance fee provides activation into the Certification Maintenance Program, which includes:

  • The option to renew all credentials held for a single fee.
  • Access to Maintenance Exams and exam guides applicable to your credential(s). Maintenance Exams will be available a minimum of 45 days before your credential expires.
  • Ongoing access to feature training in the Learning Library, which provides on-demand learning across a broad range of Veeva products.

What does it mean to be "Active in CMP" regarding my certification renewals?

A: Being active in the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) unlocks all required maintenance exams for the duration of the standardized annual program year, which runs from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027. Once your $300 USD maintenance fee is paid by the April 30 deadline, you gain the ability to renew any credentials that expire within that specific CMP cycle.

I have paid for the annual certification maintenance fee, but the status on my training portal still indicates that the payment is required for me.

A: If you have paid your maintenance fee but still see this message, please make sure that you have redeemed your registration code on our website. This will enable access to the maintenance exam.

If the CMP fee is due on a fixed annual date, when do my actual certifications expire?

A: While the CMP fee is tied to a fixed annual billing and program cycle, all individual certifications still expire exactly one year from their specific date of issuance. This means that while your program access is managed on a standardized calendar (May 1 – April 30), you must still complete the relevant maintenance exams before each of your individual credential anniversary dates to maintain an active status.

How do I locate the status of my Certification Maintenance Fee?

Certification Maintenance Fee status can be tracked in your profile in the Veeva Training Portal:

  • Top right corner > Profile > View Profile
  • User details
  • The status is listed under, “Certification Maintenance Fee Payment Status”

I hold multiple active certifications with different expiration dates; how does the CMP cover my renewals?

A: If you hold multiple active certifications as of December 31, 2025, you will receive a single invoice in February, 2026, for the $300 USD maintenance fee. By paying this fee by the April 30, 2026, deadline, your status will be "Active" for the entire annual program cycle running from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027. Throughout this year, you will have continuous access to the Learning Library and can complete the required maintenance exams for all your credentials—such as those expiring in July, October, or January—at no additional cost as their individual anniversaries approach.

I just earned my first Veeva certification in early 2026; do I still need to pay the CMP fee for this year?

A: If you earned your initial Veeva certification on or after January 1, 2026, the following policy applies to your first year:

  • Fee Exemption: Because you obtained your first credential after the January 1st cutoff, you are exempt from the 2026 Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) fee.
  • Complimentary Access: You will have access to the maintenance materials and exams for your specific credential without paying the $300 USD fee for this initial year.

First Billing Cycle: You will not receive your first CMP bill until February 1, 2027, which will cover your participation in the 2027–2028 annual program cycle.

How do I keep my Veeva skills current across 3 releases per year?

A: Veeva Education Services will release courses in our Learning Library on an as-needed basis for each Veeva solution. Information about new Veeva features and product capabilities is available in release notes, on documentation sites, and in Veeva Connect or the Partner Portal.

Is training in the Learning Library required to take a maintenance exam(s)?

A: No. While new Learning Library training is not required, it is highly recommended to help you keep current on new features and prepare for the maintenance exams.

Where do I access Learning Library courses?

A: The training Learning Library is available as a benefit to all credential holders in the Veeva Training Portal. New courses are added periodically throughout the calendar year and are recommended study materials to prepare for maintenance exams.

Why is Veeva CRM not available in the Learning Library?

A: Veeva CRM is a mature product and no new features are being introduced. Therefore, we do not have Veeva CRM offerings in our Learning Library.  Certified Veeva CRM persons are encouraged to learn about adjacent Veeva products and have access to all Learning Library resources.

Where do I download my certificate and badge?

A: Accredible is our credential management system. Beginning in October 2025, all Veeva Certification credentials will be delivered via email directly to the credential holder. You can access your credentials by either clicking the link in the email, or by going to https://www.accredible.com/sign-in.

What happens if I didn’t receive an email with my credential after I passed my exam?

A: Be sure to check your spam or junk folder as your credential may have been delivered there.

How do I share my credential with a prospective employer?

A: Each issued credential comes with a Unique Sharing URL which can be used in digital resumes, email signatures, blogs or websites, and in Social Media profiles or posts. To learn more, please visit this Accredible help article.

How does someone verify that my credential is current?

A: Because credentials are issued via a unique Accredible sharing URL, shared credentials can be verified by clicking on the ‘Verify’ button to the right of the certificate or badge. See this Accredible help article for more information.

How do I demonstrate my expertise if an exam associated with a course is not yet available?

A: Your course completion certificate will serve as Veeva’s official endorsement of your required learning and knowledge until a new accompanying certification is launched. Course completion certificates are available in the Veeva Learning Portal.

I hold an active credential but am currently in between jobs. What are my options to retain my credential?

A:  Veeva will grant a one-year grace period (interim waiver) to unemployed individuals who were previously a Veeva employee or employed by a Veeva customer or partner. You will be required to complete a Training Confidentiality Agreement prior to the waiver being granted and will need to provide proof of eligibility at the expiration of the one-year waiver period in order to maintain your credential in subsequent years.

As an independent consultant working for a Veeva customer, am I eligible to participate in the Certification Program?

A: Yes, you are eligible. Your participation requires that the training contract, agreement, and payment are provided directly by the Veeva customer. You must also provide an email address associated with the customer's organization.

I switched employers. How do I update my business email?

A:  To update your business email, please send a request to training@veeva.com. In the body of the email, be sure to include your previous employer's email address for verification. Please note that we cannot update training accounts to personal email addresses.
